Residency for Young Artists 2024

From September 19 to October 6, 2024, we organized the second Residency for Young Artists.

Targeted at creatives aged 18-25 taking their first steps in art, the program offered participants insights into developing a career in the field. It included lectures, discussions, workshops, and meetings with artists, curators, and representatives of cultural institutions. Participants learned about the structure of the contemporary art world, self-presentation, portfolio building, finding opportunities, collaborating with institutions, and engaging with local contexts.

The residency culminated in the exhibition “The Сomplicated Present” and a zine created by the participants. The exhibition was united by themes of time and reality, cycles, and fluidity—ideas explored by the residents. It lacked a single visual motif, with each artist telling their own story.

At the heart of the exhibition was the zine—a publication without a beginning, end, table of contents, or cover. Each page was dedicated to an individual participant, showcasing their practices.

The exhibition ran from December 7 to 21, 2024, in the DCCC’s experimental studio.

Participants: Sofya-Lyubov Aleksina, Bohdan Khrapak, Mariia Avula, Oleksii Shevchenko, Anastasiia Yurchyna, Ruslana Kliuchko, Yeva Kochanova, Sofiia Sobol.

Curator: Oleksandra Shovkun.

Coordinator: Mariia Yarchuk.
